C'birders:
Phew! Rushed down the street earlier than usual to see if the Black-Chinned
HB made it through the night which was around 30 degrees or less here. He
did...I didn't see the other hummer but am not discouraged by that. We
think that the hummer prefers people not to be sitting on the porch. While
waiting for the hummer to show I walked around and over on Lake Osprey's dam
I saw a Yellow-throated warbler high in a tree. The Sharpie spooked the
birds at the seed feeders, as usual.
Cleaned the yard which looked like the aftermath of one of the hurricanes
there were so many branches down after yesterday's high winds: (only had a
tenth of an inch of rain).
Around 3, finally saw Toast, the Cinnamon Teal by the dock eating and
bathing. The Cooper's Hawk rushed by ruffling the feathers of the ducks.
He was aiming for my birds at the seed feeders which are all near the shore
edge. The most consistently reliable time to see the teal now seems to be
from 2:30 to 4:00.
Everything is very fine here in Medcalf Lake, Caroline. (mainland Sunset
Beach, NC)
