Suzanne and I had to get out of the house today, and went to Beaver Lake
(Asheville) to see if there were any interesting ducks. Many Mallards and
"Motley" (Mallard/domestic Mallard crosses) ducks, and one strange something
that was at the ice's edge, and (eejit me) no bino's. Had a whitish breast,
rode fairly low, and could have been a Cormorant, a Merganser, or a Loon. (I
will be 50 in Feb, eyes play tricks, or sometimes do not play.) I am going
back tomorrow with some optics, but anyone seen the critter?
Only ice free area is near the dam at the North end of the lake. Hope it is
still there....
