Afternoon all,
I received our regions January Audubon newsletter two days ago and when
reading it learned of hummerbirds in our area,(almost fell out of my chair
when reading it). I called someone to get all of the info. If it has been
posted, I missed it somehow, but thought I would go ahead and post with as
much of the details as I could get.
There is a Rufous in the Evans, GA area visiting a home. It has been there
since Dec. 24th, (what a Christmas present, it was delivered to the wrong
address, was suppose to come here) This lady does not want the bird to be
banded.
Arleigh Mansfield in Martinez has had a Rufous since Thanksgiving, this
surely was reported, but I missed, I am sure. Fred Moore has been and it is
sporting a bracelet.
Also Lee Gibbs in N. Augusta first saw a female Rufous on 11/27. Later, on
12/3, a second female Rufous appeared and apparently has driven away the
first hummer. Ms. Gibbs is willing to have someone band this bird, if
anyone is interested.
Cathy Green, (going to sit in her driveway now, still haven't seen a
wintering hummingbird)
