Hello all:
I just retured from a two-week birding orgy in Arizona only to find
that all of you have been keeping busy with western birds (what with
black-chins, cinnamon teals and rufous hummers zooming about here). My
best trip birds out there-were a female northern parula at Tucson
sewage ponds that I found (I think there are only a few other winter
records), and, finally, after much staring at gravelly road-shoulders,
a covey of Montezuma Quail. Yes!
But anyway, I am writing to ask if anyone here is interested in
joining me on a trip up to Virginia this Saturday to look for the
Short-Eared Owls that Sandy and Steve Schultz mentioned recently in
their postings? I can drive, (or be the passenger) but would be happy
for a driving companion as well as another pair of eyes. If I get
ambitious I might even bake a cranberry-walnut bread to take along
with us. If interested reply privately and then lets talk about the
plans.
