A female Baltimore Oriole has set up camp in my apple tree this afternoon.
Since it is rare for Jan.here in the Triangle, I have been looking this bird
over the past 30 min. to be sure.
There is a definite orange-yellow tinge "under tail coverts", tail
occasionally fans out, is yellow-orange. White wing bar, primaries are edged
white. Eating suet. Bill long, thin. About 5-51/2 in. in size.
A first for me here in the yard except for 2 migrant males.
