This Week at Hilton Pond 01/08/01

It's been a slow winter at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural
History as far as birds are concerned. Even so, lots of things are
happening.

If you've ever wondered how big rocks turn into little rocks, check
out "'Thin is In' for Crustose Lichens" at the Center's website. Just
click on http://www.hiltonpond.org , go to "This Week at Hilton
Pond," and select the week of 8-14 January.

Bird banding totals for the week are also included, as is a photo of
a Chipping Sparrow in winter plumage.

While you're browsing, please consider joining the new Nature Study Network.

Happy Nature Watching!
