Hi Carolinabirders,
Over the past two weeks unprecedented numbers of Red-throated Loons have
appeared off the coast of northeastern Florida. The loons have been
observed in concentrated morning and evening fights that are assumed to be
movements to and from group roosts. These flights have contained as many
as about eighty birds and flock sizes as great as twelve.
Has anyone noticed lower numbers of Red-throateds off the Carolina shores
that might help explain this phenomena? Since this does not deal directly
with birds in Carolinas private responses are probably appropriate. Thanks
in advance for any comments!
Later...
