Limpkin Friday evening

Using Lex's excellent directions, Steve Patterson and I observed the Limpkin
at Savannah NWR Friday evening for about 15 minutes. The bird did not show
at all for the previous hour, concealed within 20 feet of the road, then
abruptly flew several yards to the left to perch and preen in a clump of
cattails. If you can't find it in the daytime, waiting for dusk might be a
good strategy.

Also had a flyby Merlin.
