Commendation

The 3253rd received a commendation from the Third U, S, Army 7 September 1944:

"Your Corps (Hq, XV Corps) has most expeditiously accomplished its mission of securing a position in the vicinity of Mantes, Gassicourt, France, holding a bridgehead east of the Seine River at Mantes, Gassicourt, France and denying the use of crossing sites to the enemy as far north as Louviers, France."

The 3253rd trained until 8 June at Wincham Hall, Cheshire and then moved to quarters at Burton Bradstock, Dorset.

The 3253d Signal Service Company was redesignated on 6 May 1948 as the 540th Signal Service Company and activated on 20 June 1948 in Austria.

It was inactivated on 1 April 1949 in Austria.
