Position:        Grant Officer
Location:        Jefferson City
Salary:            $2,688 per month;   $32,256 annual


General Responsibilities:

This position manages the statewide grant program.  The position reports to
the Local Records director and administrative archivist and coordinates
program functions with administrative services and the communications
director of our agency.  Additionally, regular  communication with our
agency's imaging department is necessary throughout production of
grant-funded microfilm and its quality control.

The position plans the annual grant application and review calendar from
November through June while monitoring all active grant projects.
Administration from March through May occasionally requires overtime.  This
position assembles the annual grant review summaries, proposals, grant
histories, and priorities for the Missouri Historical Records Advisory Board
in June and responds to inquiries from the Board.  The grant administrator
occasionally travels to offices of vendors or grantees; more typically,
however, the grant administrator coordinates field project oversight through
Local Records field archivists.


Skills:

Applicant must have strong verbal and written skills and be able to manage
office equipment.  This includes typing 30 words per minute and accessing
electronic records (files and databases) on a desktop computer with
Microsoft Office and be willing to take additional training workshops;
additional skill and continued training in the use of Missouri's SAM II
accounting system is required.  Must be able to drive statewide for day
trips, engage a modest amount of overnight travel, and deliver public
programs and workshops for government audiences.  Must be able to write
lucid correspondence and consult on projects over the telephone and to
communicate extensively by e-mail.  A demonstration of appropriate diplomacy
with disappointed clients is required.

Qualifications:

This position requires a master's degree in business administration,
American history, library science, records management, or ten or more years
experience in the above fields.  Training should include the ability to
calculate general math including percentages, addition, subtraction, and
maintenance of accounts payable and receivable.  Applicant should have a
general knowledge on how to appraise historical records and knowledge of
quality control in imaging and micrographics production.  A valid Missouri
driver's license is required.
