The Ohio Historical Society seeks candidates with energy and vision to fill
the position of Business Collections Specialist.  This is a two-year
contract position, potentially renewable for a longer period of time.  The
incumbent will work as part of a team responsible for increasing physical
and electronic access to the society's archival and museum collections.
Primary focus will be on records and artifacts that document Ohio business
history.

Responsibilities:  The Business Collections Specialists duties will include
processing, arranging, describing, cataloging and digitizing collections,
and converting paper finding aids into electronic format (HTML or SGML). In
addition, the incumbent will create educational materials and presentations
that encourage and facilitate the preservation of corporate memory.

Qualifications:  A well-qualified candidate will have an advanced degree in
history, library or information science and at least one year's experience
processing large collections in an archives, special library or museum. He
or she must have demonstrated expertise with HTML and EAD, as well as
working knowledge of Ohio and American business history, automated library
systems and MARC cataloging. Museum experience is especially desirable.
Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential, as is the
ability to use common office software.

Pay Range: 29 ($27,144-$39,374)  Starting Salary: $28,000-$33,000

Typical Working Conditions: A majority of the work in this position is
performed in an office environment; some takes place in library stack and
storage areas and in the museum collection facility.
