by Laylan Copelin
Archivist David Chapman is accustomed to cataloging mounds of records at the
Cushing Memorial Library, the depository of Texas A&M's history. So he
wasn't surprised that a sweep of the university's bonfire records from all
campus departments amassed these impressive statistics:

HOLLAND -- An obscure document outlining the state's responsibilities for a
closed dredge dump on Windmill Island enjoyed about as much attention as the
elusive Kirtland's snake over the last couple of decades.
But with plans for a $54 million development in the works, the 25-year-old
document -- just like the snake -- is receiving attention typically afforded
only to the springtime tulips that make the island a world-famous attraction
each May.

Do Elgin's letters solve the marble fight?
http://www.foxnews.com/etcetera/050300/elgin_marbles.sml

by Joan Gralla
NEW YORK - A New York professor thinks he might have the key to solving a
200-year-old dispute between Britain and Greece over who owns the Elgin
Marbles - sculptures taken from Athens' Parthenon in 1801 and now at the
British Museum.
David Rudenstine, a law professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law,
said the solution might lie in letters from Thomas Bruce, the seventh earl
of Elgin, and in an Italian translation of an Ottoman Empire legal document.
