Re: Scanner for 4x5 b&w negatives

Peter:

We also have a lot of old negatives here that we are scanning, and bought a
MicroTek ScanMaker 5 two years ago. I've been quite satisfied with it. This
model has two scanning beds: the upper bed handles reflective media (text,
prints) up to near-legal size. The lower one has a removable drawer with
inserts for 35mm slides and filmstrips, 6cmx9cm, 4"x5" and 8"x10" negatives.
The included TWAIN Driver is easy to work with, although it always defaults to
its own settings (e.g., for color originals) rather than letting you save your
preferences. I don't have a great deal of experience with scanners, but this
one's speed is acceptable. E-mail me if you'd like more information.

Subject: Scanner for 4x5 b&w negatives

Please let me know your recommendation for the "best" flatbed scanner for 4x5
black and white photo negatives....

Thank you and sincerely,
