Route suggested by Gerry may be the best.  Fixatifs are sold in art
suppky stores.  Require judisious use otherwise they have a tendency to
change the nature of the original pastel.  Actually, they lessen the
intensity of the colors no matter how much is used.

Alternate method would be to have it matted, glazed,  and framed.  Mat
will protect the chalk surface. This preserves it as originally
conceived.  A bit more expensive, though.
