Photo Archive Associate

The Twentieth Century Fox Still Photo Archive has an opening for a
full-time motion picture stills associate archivist, with emphasis on
management of client services.

Job Description:

The Archive Associate aids in the organization, maintenance,
preservation, and inventory of photographic materials which document
film production from 1927, and record the visual history of the
studio.  The associate coordinates research and photo requests from
studio departments, and is responsible for working directly with
documentary producers and researchers.   The archive associate reports
to the Director of the Photo Archive, and works with the Manager and
Assistant Archivist.

The associate processes and performs basic conservation on
disorganized and unstable photographic materials. Other
responsibilities include:  supervising research activities of other
users of the photo archive; performing administrative duties related
to client requests and photo-duplication; tracking usage of the
collection; updating collection's content database.  Additional tasks
may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

Candidates will have a knowledge of film history and archival
procedures. Preferred candidates will possess:

o  Degree in cinema studies, american studies, museum studies, art
history, or photography.

o  3-4 years experience in archive or curatorial environment, or 3-4
years as image historian, photo researcher, documentary production
assistant or production manager.

o  Hands-on understanding of photographic sciences either through
darkroom, lab, or other job experience; ability to identify different
photographic formats and negative stocks.

o  Computer ability, including knowledge of Excel, FileMaker Pro,
Photoshop, Word for Mac.

o  Excellent social and organizational skills, ability to deal with
variety of client demands and multiple assignments, a talent for
independent work, a sense of humor, and superior verbal and written
communication skills.
