Perhaps we should all begin replying to every such posting with a message to
Human Resources: "I considered applying for this position, then noted that
no salary range was quoted; therefore, assuming this is because what you are
offering is so low that you expect nobody would apply if you revealed it, I
decided to shine you on."

decisions about salaries, I think the issue is not
embarrassment at
all but rather trying to pay less money than is allotted in
the
position line. From my experience, it seems to be a similar
mind
set to "shopping for bargains."
