Re: relocation expenses

You never "make" money on the deal. I sold a house I'd lived in for 17
years, and while I got some equity out of it, I still lost money with all I
put into it, what with paying closing costs (for the other guy, too). If I
were to sell the house I'm in now, it would cost me more than $10,000 for
the realtor's fee alone, much less the closing costs, and right now the
value of my house has not kept up with other "zip codes" in the metroplex.
And I've moved many times during my life with the military, but when we had
to move ourselves, we rented a U-Haul truck and did the work ourselves. My
last move less than four years ago cost about $500 even though we have 4
kids and a 30 years of household goods, because we did it ourselves.

And if we moved across the country, we'd still have our family and friends
help. We'd help them, too.

The real point, though, is that we make choices, and no choice is easy these
days.

At least most of you guys are on a full-time salary! I'm NOT!
