Re: Kill the Autoreply (from one who used to think herself perfect)

Yes, we ought all to be sufficiently computer literate so that we'll send
our "no mail" messages to the server and not to the list. Yes, we ought all
to set our accounts to "no mail" before enabling auto-reply. However...I'm
glad we don't have the habit (that I've seen in other places) of yelling at
violators, because I almost was one last week through no fault of my own
when our IT shop made a software change and casually told me at the last
minute, "Oh, yeah, all your incoming mails are going to generate bounce
messages for a few days. Can't be helped, yadda, yadda, yadda."

I managed to get "no mail" messages out to my lists just in time. I don't
feel quite as perfect as I felt last week - maybe I needed a humility lesson
right then?
