Some designers don't care, but others care a great deal.  PEARL HARBOR did a
great deal of research here, and the researchers wanted to be sure that, for
the scenes before the attack, they had the look of PRE-war Hawaii and not
1942.  Of course, you can't always find the right pictures, but I think we
did a pretty good job for them.

An occasional problem occurs when the reality is very different from the
preconception.  Sometimes you find an accurate picture that looks so far
afield that the designer doesn't want to use it because most of the audience
would find it jarring or implausible.
