Re: advice on recruiting younger & minority "friends"?

How do you recruit younger and "minority" friends?

I belong to several groups faced with this kind of problem.
One of the difficulties is that younger and minority friends often
do not have the spare dollars for dues, etc. Once you've been
in the workforce awhile, often your financial situation improves.
Perhaps some of your members would be willing to create a
funding pool to offer subsidized memberships to younger and
minority members. You could have an age cutoff....

You could even publicize the special program to obtain applicants.
I think the key is to get people involved, "hook" them on receiving
regular newsletters and materials, and then ease them into regular
dues-paying slots.

The other key is do you have programs that would interest the
younger and minority folks? By the way, I would not limit such
programming to simply South Carolina history!
