Archivist -- Brea, California

History Associates Incorporated, an archival, records management,
and historical services firm headquartered in Rockville, Maryland
and operating nationwide, is seeking an experienced archivist
with training in history and a knowledge of records management
theory and practice to work full-time in its Brea, California,
office. Clients include the federal government, state and local
governments, corporations, associations, and non-profit organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Conducts records surveys and inventories for archives
assessment and records management projects

* Performs archival processing activities, including the
arrangement, cataloging, description, and preservation of records.

* Performs related administrative duties.

* Assists with special projects such as publications and
workshops.

* Performs research and prepares written and oral presentations
and reports. Writes or orally presents regular and special
reports on various aspects of archival operations, including
weekly, monthly, and project summary reports.

Minimum Qualifications

* Master's degree in history (preferred), library science, or a
related discipline, supplemented by archival courses/seminars or
practica/internships

* One year archival experience and knowledge of archival policies
and procedures

* Ability to collect, organize, research, interpret, and submit
written descriptions of record groups and collections

* Ability to compose clear, concise, grammatically correct
descriptive narratives and reports

* Knowledge of and ability to conduct investigative research

* Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with a variety of
people

* Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion,
initiative, and judgment

Preferred Qualifications

* Member of the Academy of Certified Archivists

* Knowledge of and ability to complete records management
activities including conducting records inventories and preparing
records retention and destruction schedules

* Ability to prepare proposals to clients and to grant funding
organizations

* Willingness to perform marketing activities

Salary: high 30s - low 40s, depending on education and
experience. Excellent benefits package.
