I have transferred many of these discs for the YIVO
Institute here in New York. The grooves are very shallow and narrow.
Although I have a wide variety of styli I ended using an LP stylus. A
rubber topped turntable platter was not workable because of the flexibility of
the disc which needed firm support underneath it to carry the weight of the
tonearm. A unneeded vinyl LP underneath the disc provides a much better
support for transferring. The discs I transferred were at 33 rpm.
The sound quality was poor to fair given the size of the disc and the speed.
Equalization was either flat or nearly flat.
I would love to find a working Soundscriber too
but, short of that, the above pointers should help in extracting sound from the
disc.
