UPCOMING SOLINET PRESERVATION WORKSHOP

This one-day session will be held Monday, September 25, 2000 at the Historic New Orleans Collection, New Orleans, LA. from 9am - 4pm.

This session will concentrate on the principles and practices of managing equipment-dependent magnetic media, motion picture film, and mechanical sound recording collections. Topics include: preservation activities for sight and sound recordings, appraisal considerations, and guidelines for care, handling and storage. Attendees are invited to bring in equipment and/or recording media for discussion and identification during the session. Instructor of the session is Alan Lewis, Audiovisual Preservation Expert in the Special Media Archives Services Division, National Archives and Records Administration.

Cost for SOLINET Full members is $95 ($85 early bird, $120 late registration); SOLINET Associate users, $105 ($95 early bird, $130 late registration); Affiliate (non-members) $135 ($125 early bird, $160 late registration). This workshop is funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Division of Preservation and Access. Any institution within Louisiana qualifies for the member rate.
