Re: mold on books

Dear Mr. Vinovskis:

Black spots are common. Also available in white, gray, gray-green,
blue-green, and pink. The bigger, more numerous and/or fuzzier the spots,
the more thriving the mold. But spots or no spots, smell is usually your
best indicator.

There are many different kinds of mold, each thriving on its own preferred
foods and in its own preferred environment. I've met one kind of mold that
seemed to prefer buckram bindings to everything else: in that case the books
were not water-damaged, but the room had high humidity.

The Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology has used the services of Midwest
Freeze-Dry for treating mold. Their e-address is: MFD7326@aol.com.

I appreciate the information received so far, but I was only inquiring as
to how will I know it when I see it especially if it its dry and not wet.

Thanks again for the info.

                        Respectfully,
