recruiting library friends

I posted a similar query a couple of months ago but received only a couple of responses. We have a meeting on membership next week, so I'll try again.

We would like to increase the number of minority and young adult members (college age and up) in the University South Caroliniana Society, the support organization for the South Caroliniana Library at the U. of South Carolina. The Library is a repository for South Carolina's historical materials.

Does anyone have advice on attracting these demographics?
