The San Antonio Public Library is recruiting a Librarian II for the
Central Library, Texana/Genealogy Unit.

city?s commitment to lifelong learning. The 19-branch system offers
extensive staff training and excellent opportunity for advancement.
This dynamic system has won the John Cotton Dana award three times, as
well as the Excellence in Library Service to Young Adults Award.  As a
leader in the use of library technology, the San Antonio Public Library
was instrumental in the development of the first children?s online
Spanish language catalog.

Responsibilities:  Assists patrons with all local history and
genealogical materials in the collections.  Responsible for processing
collections; preparing finding guides, supervising archives volunteers,
conducting community outreach programs, and implementing appropriate
electronic descriptive/access systems.

Qualifications:  Requires an MLS from an ALA accredited program and two
(2) years professional level library experience.  Preferred
qualifications include certification by the Academy of Certified
Archivists; experience and knowledge of Texas and San Antonio history,
knowledge of archival theory and methods of historical research; the
ability to manage a heavy public service schedule; and bilingual
(English/Spanish) communication skills.

Salary is negotiable ($31,332 - $39,168) based on experience and
qualifications.  Attractive benefits package.
