Re: Handling press releases
There is the possiblity, as at Hamline University, that the News Bureau
(later Public Relations, later Communications) kept a chrono file of news
releases that can then be left as is as a part of that department's
collection. However, copies often show up filed in topical or departmental
files. Unless one has reason to do a major rearrangement, one might as well
leave those where they are also, since it is generally too time consuming to
verify duplication before discarding. Yes, it means storing duplicates, so
it is good to think through whether you want to save time or shelf space.
