TEACHING LIVING HISTORY

Our students should also be exposed to living histories and re-enactments.
As Civil War re-enactors, my own children have learned about history
by watching people live that way for a weekend, seeing the sights, hearing the
sounds, smelling the smells, eating the food and wearing the clothes.
They had the opportunity to shop in tents for old timey things and see what
was available for purchase to people of that time period (no plastic, etc.). We
adults learn a lot
too and so do the spectators!

Please encourage your communities to sponsor more of these events and
invite students!
