Re: Deteriorating newspaper clippings



Juliane,

I too work with "lots of file cabinets full of stuff."  The vast majority of
the time we photocopy newsprint and toss the original.  If after
photocopying, we have decided that the original has some value beyond the
information, we store it as flat as possible (unfold--but make sure that the
paper is supple enough, you may have to put it in a humidification chamber)
in an acid free folder large enough to accommodate it and then into a flat
box or flat file for support.  Patrons use the photocopy.
