Re: moldy & mildewy photo album



First thing I'd do is scan all of them carefully.  It's amazing what
you can do with the image off glass plates with a digital scan, even
hammered ones, figuratively speaking.  Sometimes you just can't
save the original, as much as it hurts you to give up on it.  I
remember having to discard some nitrate negatives because they
had reached a danger point; after we scanned and printed them of
course.  We torched them as a safety demo, whoo-hoo!  They
really do go up in a robust flame.
