Re: Advice needed on setting up a church archives

You might want to look at _Manual for South Carolina religious archives and
recordkeeping_ by Jeanette Bergeron (Columbia, SC: South Carolina
Historical Records Advisory Board, 1999). Although there are some South
Carolina-specific items in the _Manual_, it is a good introduction to
archives for the non-professional by someone who has worked with a number
of church archives in the state. It is, in Jeanette's words, "a practical
manual of tips and guidelines *for small budgets.*"

It is available as a .pdf file at the following URL:

http://www.state.sc.us/scdah/churcharchives.htm

Hope this helps.
