Re: Palm Software for Hobo Temp/RH Dataloggers

I wanted to chime in regarding the HOBO dataloggers. We
purchased 5 of them in the late summer to track mainly temperature
and relative humidity. We placed them in each storage area/floor,
as well as the reading room. We have also use the Palm interface.

These dataloggers have been set to collect data every 24 minutes.
At this rate the unit stores one month of data, which allows us to see
real trends. This is much simpler than a traditional
hygrothermograph.

With the Palm software the dataloggers can remain in their location
and not have to be retrieved to a central computer.

These units have enable us to ensure that our environment is being
maintained at proper levels. By keeping such tight controls we
were able to determine that there were spikes in relative humidity
due to low outside temperatures. These spike may not have been
found if we had been using other, more difficult, equipment.

Our total cost for five dataloggers and the software was about $750
(I already had the palm, though you can toss on another $149 if you
needed one).
