Covering old books

Hello to everyone in archives land.

I am posting this question for a colleague not on the list. She has
just begun working with a collection of books that contain
illustrations by a famous artist. This collection is to become part
of a research library which is still in the planning stages. The
books will be in open stacks where researchers will be free to browse
and pull things offf the shelf. She is wondering how best to protect
the covers of these books - especially the ones that have art on the
cover, whether on a dust jacket or as part of the cover itself. She
has looked at various types of book covers, but is hoping for expert
opinions/brilliant suggestions. Please reply to Ann Morris,
amorris@midcoast.com. If we get some good suggestions, I will post
them to the list.

Thanks!

Ellen
