Re: Report of Surveys/Archives Week

Someone (Daniel Sokolov?) reported yesterday on NY City's activities for Archives Week. Actually, this is part of a NY statewide effort that is supported by the NY State Archives, who encourage archives to have exhibits, lectures, etc. during Archives Week and publish a calendar on their web site of all such activities that are reported to them--broadly interpreting anything that happens during October to be an Archives Week activity. The NY State Archives has an Archives Week Action Guide (downloadable PDF file) on their web site at:

http://www.sara.nysed.gov/pubs/local-pub/pub54/summary.htm

This includes suggestions for getting publicity from the press and radio stations.

I believe this Archives Week (which falls every year during the week of the Columbus Day holiday) is held in more than just NY state because it seems to me that MARAC puts together an Archives Week poster, so at least some of the other states in the region must celebrate it.
