Re: Architectural drawings

"As a basic security caution, if someone wants to have a copy
made of one of these drawings we require proof of ownership, or
permission from the owner before we send it to our photo lab. "

Just like we were talking about watermarks and photocopy stamps
the other day, I think this is your best line of defense against
charges that you gave away drawings that allow potential
miscreants to do bad stuff. We have this same rule: if anyone
wants architectural drawings of an existing building, they have to
either own it or provide written proof of ownership before we provide
them. As you say, if someone really wants to do bad things they
can get the information without getting copies of the drawings, but
you will be protected.

Support for this comes from a little clipping I keep on the wall by
my desk, from the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE (don't have the exact
reference, sorry):

"BEEFING UP SECURITY": The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office
has tried to be careful about who sees the architectural plans for
the nearly completed 1,600 bed new jail...

But there are 320 different sets floating around because of the
various contractors and subcontractors....

Security was beefed up last month after a drug bust in Salt Lake
County. Among the items seized in a raid on suspected drug
dealers was a set of blueprints detailing the new jail's footings and
foundations..."
