Re: Texas Electric Railroad

OY! Two railroad history questions in one day!

Gerrianne,

Because TERY (still operating in San Antonio) is considered a "traction"
railroad, being powered by electricity/overhead trolley wire, it falls under
a special collecting sector by railroad enthusiasts.

You might do best narrowing your search and query to those traction
railroad/trolley museums around the country. These tend to have electric
railroad photo and archival documentary collections to greater and lesser
extents. Most are owned/run by private/non-profit groups.

To my knowledge, there are no traction or electric railroad museums, per se,
in Texas. However, you might try contacting the Western Railway Museum in
Suisun City, CA (owned/run by the Bay Area Electric Railroad Association).
They have an extensive archive which is just settling into a new research
and visitors center. I'm sorry that I do not have their phone or email
address handy, however, the phone area code is 707.

[Paul Hammond: Perhaps you can provide the Association of Railroad Museums
contact for Gerrianne? Thanks!]
