Internship

The American Jewish Historical Society, Waltham, Massachusetts, seeks qualified interns to work with the staff on many diverse and interesting projects. These projects include assisting in the processing of the records of the National Jewish Welfare Board, the cataloging of miscellaneous manuscript collections, the creation of finding aids, and other clerical tasks as needed.

For 105 years, the American Jewish Historical Society has served as the national archives of the Jewish people in America. Its holdings are the preeminent resource for scholars, museums, filmmakers, publishers, and genealogists who want to document American Jewish life from the 1590s to the present. The oldest national ethnic historical organization in the United States, the Society was the first systematic collector of archival, museum, and published sources depicting the religious, communal, cultural, and political life of American Jewry, and Jewish contributions to American life.

Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and planning skills required. Ability to work independently and with others, prioritizes tasks, and meet deadlines.

Salary: $10-$12 per hour, commensurate with experience.
