Re: Inside those document cases

Conservation Resources International, Inc. (1-800-634-6932) sells
"spacer-support bars for record storage boxes", sometimes aka
"follower blocks". They are rectangular, and scored at each end
to allow the ends to be folded back at varying thicknesses to produce
the required depth (front to back) of fill needed.
I use these regularly and like them very much. I imagine other suppliers
have similar items.
I've used these in manuscript boxes. When it comes to a card file box
half-full of bibliographic cards, etc. - crushed tissue, or divide the
cards
into groups, tie with cloth tape, and file in folders in manuscript
envelope
or in manuscript box or???????

Good luck!

I'm reluctant to post such a simple question, but I'm sure someone knows
how
to solve this problem.

We have a lot of soft unbound loose papers and soft-cover publications in
half-filled document cases ... they are sliding down to the bottom of the
box and becoming badly curved and bent. Some of them are permanently
deformed. What is the best way to brace these things while the box is
slowly filling up? Do you use boxes within boxes? Large quantities of
tissue? Bubble wrap? Ethafoam bricks?

I've searched through all of our catalogs from preservation suppliers and
don't find this problem addressed. Please enlighten me. Thanks --
