Job Title results

Please find hereafter part of the file I sent to Pat for the RIM Portal.

The happy winners are :

* By frequency, people who suggested "Records specialist" or "Records
and Information Specialist" would win (Ellen Chapman, Karen Heraldo, Ch.
Stadel, Sharon Park, Andrew Lesko)
* By funny ones, Dan Jones and Tracey Black, "parents" of "Information
Czar" and "Document Diva" or "Document Dominatrix" (which could be
abbreviated by DD or SuperD) would win.
* Instinctively, there is only one winner: John O'Brien with
"Knowledge Resources Specialist".

I therefore suggest to send one box of chocolates to the nominated winner
and consolation prizes to the 7 others. Hereafter are the links for thanking
all who participated.

* One of the best "confiseur" in Geneva : Tea-Room-Confiseur
<http://www.swisschocolates.ch/> Arn

*       Chocolates addicts site : the  <http://www.chocolat.ch/>
swiss-chocolates server (with a nice comparison to sex)You will see the
title choosen by my management next time I post a mail in the list. I
suppose, this will be something like Records and Information Specialist.

Thanks very much for your help.

Elisabeth

Analysis of answers - top five:

Which job titles are the most frequently suggested?

Job Title
Total of mentions (on 82 suggestions)
%

Records Specialist
3
4

Records and Information (Management) Specialist (Senior)
2
2.7

Director of Information Management
2
2.7

Information Management Coordinator
2
2.7

Information Specialist/Director
2
2.7

(Corporate) Documentarian

2.7

In fact there is no unanimity of job titles to be used according to the
question. "Records specialist" collects only one more point than 5 other job
titles which collect 2 points, whereas the 69 other titles are mentioned one
time.

Which terms is the most frequently suggested?

Terms Total amount (on 75 types) %
Records 38 51.35
Information 26 34.66
Document 9 12.16
Knowledge 7 9.45
Others (unique terms) 3 4
Archives 3 4
Research 3 4

As suggested by the table, "records" is by far the first term to be used in
a job title. "Information" is also widely used. "Archives" only collects 3
points and is equal to "research" or "others". "Library" and "media" are
next in queue with 2 points for each (not shown in this table).

Which status is the most frequently suggested?

Status
Total amount (on 75 types)
%

Director (Chief, Head, Supervisor, Administrator)

37.33

Coordinator
20
26.66

Others (unique terms)
16
21.62

Specialist
9
12.16

Analyst
9
12.16

As suggested by the table, terms meaning leader - director was the most
common - are the first terms to be suggested in a job title. "Coordinator"
comes in second, closely followed by unique terms such as "documentarian,
consultant, controller, architect aso".

Conclusions

If there is a consensus to use "records" in a job title, people do not agree
for the title status. Those tables show how records, information and then
document and knowledge are widely used for crossfunctional activities as
mentioned in the question. The term to be used for the title is more an
internal question to be reviewed with human resources or management.
