Re: Hotel Reservations

I'm replying to my own mail with an addendum (I promise to wake up soon!) (it *is* Friday...)

You don't even have to be 50 to join AARP if your spouse is older than you are. A person who joins AARP can get membership for a spouse, no matter what the spouse's age. I was a member of AARP at age 46 because my husband is four years older.

Another interesting thing about hotel conference rates: when I was at the National Genealogical Society conference in Portland in May, I heard (second-hand--I didn't check this out myself) that some people were able to use other options, e.g., AARP rate, to get rates significantly lower than the conference rate at the conference hotel.

(remember, you can join AARP at age 50--you don't have to wait until you have retired!)
