BBC request for African footage
<color><param>0100,0100,0100</param>There was a message on either the ARCHIVES list or the AMIA list
this morning asking for footage of British colonial Africa; my flyin'
fangers deleted it before I remembered hey! We do have some
footage, taken by a world traveler named Nels Thisted (grandfather
of a famous local TV personality, that's how we got it). As follows:
{ SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1}</color>Nels and Nina Thisted Films<FontFamily><param>Times New Roman</param>
<FontFamily><param>Arial</param>A0563<FontFamily><param>Times New Roman</param>
<FontFamily><param>Arial</param>3.) African Cruise (1950)
The reel container lists this reel as an African cruise, but states
that it goes from Israel to England. Another label on the reel
identifies it as Mediterranean-England. Reel contains numerous
shots of local architecture and landscape. There is some footage
of old-style canoes. Reel also includes footage of tourists sight-
seeing.
4.) East Africa (1950)
Reel opens on a sign which reads, Welcome to East Africa. Reel
includes footage of city scenes, people walking down the street,
cars driving by, a local woman performing a dance for a crowd as
well as men performing a traditional dance for a crowd of tourists.
Whomsoever posted that, if you are interested in using it, let us
know at the address/phone/email listed below.
My apologies if it was the other list!
