Confidential Correspondence

Fellow private university archivists - how do you handle confidential
correspondence? Our President left and our VPAA is leaving next week. The
entire record set from the President's office (3 years worth) consists of 3
inches of correspondence between the President and the VPAA. There is some
correspondence marked confidential (restricted to all but current
administration in those offices) mixed in with the daily activity
correspondence. I could separate the two and physically house the
confidential stuff separately, or just return the items to the Pres. office.
BTW-I'm working on our transfer policies now, under normal circumstances
this material wouldn't be transferred to the archives for three years, but
since the new Pres. wants clean files...Any help, copies of policies,
comments, etc... would be appreciated.
