garage giveaway: HALDEMAN-JULIUS & other left publications
Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2001 10:12:41 -0400

A request came to me for disposition of this material; anyone out there know
who would want it and would be willing to pay shipping expenses: We are in
the process of cleaning out my Father's garage near Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. He was interested in Socialism in his younger days. We have
partial pages of The Haldeman Julius Monthly and The Haldeman Julius
Weekly. Also, The American Freeman, which we judge to be it's successor.
These are in rough shape. Also, copies of The Daily Worker. All of these
from the 20's and 30's.

In good shape, there is at least one long box of pamphlets from Haldeman-
Julius, such as "The Key to Culture", about 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". We have typed
minutes of the Socialist Party Convention on February 17& 18, 1934 at
Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania. From tht era, there is a notebook full of
minutes,
reports, etc., of the Pennsylvania Socialist Party. We are by no means done
finding out what is here, but if these should be of either historical
interest or
personal interest to someone, we need to know that as quickly as possible

... Thank You, The children of Paul M. Newell
