Appraisal stories

Hello. I'm doing a workshop on Appraisal at the September 2001 AASLH conference in Indianapolis. Does anyone have a good story about a donation of a records series or collection that his/her institution didn't really want? How did you handle it? Did you have to accept it? Why? If you refused it, how did you handle the donor? How did have a collection policy help you in refusing the collection?

Please send only those stories that you don't mind being discussed at a conference. Thanks.
