PDF

I have used PDF at the Space Business Archives, both as a way to post
documents and as an integrated part of our on-line exhibits. I find the
platform easy to use (just drag and drop), and the fairly small file size
makes it very attractive. For the price, I think that its hard to beat all
of the features, plus Adobe does not look like its going anywhere, so I have
no fear that the company will no longer be in business in a year (fingers
crossed). In addition, the reader is free so users can get to what they're
after, and navigation is easy on both ends. Best of all, in my humble
opinion anyway, is that you don't lose any formatting from the original
scan, so viewers still get a sense for the texture of documents, whether a
yellowed patina or a coffee stain!
For an example, look at www.spacearchive.org, within either the
"Collections" or "Exhibits" sections.

And in case anyone's wondering, I've been lurking on the list for a few
months during a move from the Space Business Archives to Deere & Company,
getting used to a little different view of the world!
