Re: scanning fees

I was considering adjusting the cost of the digital copies to be competitive
with the cost of our photographic prints, but don't have it all figured out
yet. Our scanner is extremely slow on large format items, and on higher
resolutions. Is anyone making charges dependent on the quality of the
digital reproduction? I'm thinking along these lines: For a higher dpi
image--say anything over 300 dpi--you would pay more, something like the
variation in cost between a 4 x 5 and an 8 x 10 reproduction of the same
image. I was considering $13 for a low resolution scan (what we charge for
a 4 x 5 print from a negative), and $26 for anything larger than 300 dpi.
But I'm not sure that amount covers the time I spend doing the scan, even
though I benefit by adding the digital copy to our computer catalog.
