The Effect of Ebay on Man in the Moon Marigolds

I'm wondering what everyone thinks of Ebay and
Antiques Road Show.

What effect have these had on the public's perception
of both archives/archivists as well as the relative
value or importance of their personal materials?

Also, have either or both been beneficial to your
institution? Have many archivists ever acquired
collection items on Ebay?

Is the public expecting materials to be purchased as
opposed to donated? Do they think their materials are
more valuable than they once did?

Ever had an experience in which a prospective donor
sold something on Ebay as opposed to donating it?

Would appreciate all of your horror stories as well as
the good news, too.

Thanks!

Michael Rose
