Just an anecdotal follow-up.

In the BC days (Before Computer), I worked in the Art Division of a
public library, and in our collection were all manner of price guides
to antiques & collectibles.  I always used to say that greed
motivated a large percentage of our reference inquiries, because we
constantly got calls about the value of this penny or that comic
book.
