Actually a filter will work nicely.  In Outlook Express they are called
'Rules.'  See the Help.  In other programs check the Help for either
'filter' or 'rules' or 'killfile' or something like that.  You just put in
there the From or Subject that you don't want to see.  Then the message is
downloaded, but dumped.  You can ask the filter to dump it into another
folder or just delete it.  A Subject containing RAIN would toss it, but it
might also toss a Subject with 'train' in it; so be careful how you specify
it.

There is also blocking senders which is in Outlook Express.  I
guess that would work if you didn't want to even have emails from a
particular person downloaded at all.

This won't help digest folks who have to wade through all of it anyway.
