Re: 8 tracks

Eight-tracks were (and still are) recordable. We inherited a recording
eight-track machine from my father-in-law; I think it's a Radio Shack
product. The problem is finding tape stock that's in recordable shape.
Then again, you can always bulk-erase commercial tapes and re-record.
Eight-track recording machines weren't particularly common but they were
around. Ours will go to a sound archives sooner rather than later.

While we are on the subject of "old" stuff, can anyone
tell me were 8 tracks recordable? I just ran across a
box of them and they hand written labels like they
were a self recorded one rather than the Air Supply
ones you bought. As a kid I remember playing them but
not being able to make your own.
